One week after a significant drop in confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kamloops Local Health Area, that number was back up again last week.
New data from the BC Centre for Disease Control shows 124 cases reported between Feb. 21 and Feb. 27, after it dropped to 78 cases the week of Feb. 14 and Feb. 20.
The Kamloops Local Health area includes the City of Kamloops as well as Chase, Sun Peaks, Barriere, Little Fort, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake. It is the second time there have been 124 cases in the area in a single week after the week of Jan. 17 to 23, then a record. The current record is 161 cases during the week of Jan. 31 and Feb. 6.
Between the week of Feb. 21 and Feb. 27, there were 19 new cases in the Merritt area, up from 12 the week before. There were 42 cases in the Central Okanagan which includes Kelowna (up from 36), along with 15 cases in the Vernon area (up from nine) and three cases in the Salmon Arm area (down from eight).
There was one new case each in the North Thompson (Clearwater/Vavenby area) and South Cariboo (Ashcroft/Cache Creek and Lytton areas) local health areas, with no new cases again in the 100 Mile and Lillooet local health areas.
